Our year is off to a great start after our first meeting of the year. Stu Jacobs spoke to our group about the importance of locally raised queens. Stu has worked with bees since the early 70s and has worked with bees at the University of Illinois in Springfield. He also worked a year in Venezuela working with the Africanized bee.

After Stu's presentation the following officers were elected for the 2009 year: David Burns, president., Karen Pruiett, vice president, Lorraine Wirges, secretary and Andy Blum, treasurer.

We also planned our beekeeping year and will post our meeting dates and places soon.
